Wind Energy
Test & Installation

Independent wind assessment and proven turbine technology for islands, utilities and remote sites

ThinxEnergy plans, designs and integrates wind–solar–battery hybrid systems with two German partners: Windtest-Group, for independent site assessment and yield analysis, and Wind Technik Nord, for wind turbine supply, installation and service.

Each project starts with measured wind data and an independent yield estimate, and uses turbines suited to remote and export markets.

Windtest Grevenbroich
Independent Design & Yield Assessment

Windtest has spent about 30 years providing independent testing and engineering for renewable-energy projects. It is based in Grevenbroich, Germany, and has had a North American subsidiary since 2014. It is accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018, is a recognised IECRE measuring laboratory and is a full MEASNET member.

What windtest brings to your project:

  • Wind potential measurement using remote sensing
  • (LiDAR/SoDAR) or met masts
  • Energy yield assessment and reference yield calculation
  • Site quality assessment to TR 6 and TR 10
  • Power performance testing and model validation after commissioning
  • Power quality, harmonics and grid-compliance testing for turbines and energy storage
  • Noise and shadow-flicker prognosis for permitting.

Grevenbroich Test Site

To accelerate the energy transition, renewable energy technology must be used efficiently. Our test site in Grevenbroich Germany offers unique conditions to test and optimize renewable energy technology under real conditions. This helps to reduce CO2 emissions.

Wind Technik Nord
Turbine Supply & Installation

Wind Technik Nord GmbH was founded in 1986 in Enge-Sande, North Friesland, Germany. It develops, builds and sells wind turbines and is DIN ISO 9001:2015 certified, with its processes regularly reviewed by DNV.

Website Wind Technik Nord

Turbine range:

  • WTN 250: developed for export markets outside Europe, built on proven technology for high availability
  • WTN 600: 600 kW, 46 m or 48 m rotor, variable speed and pitch control
  • WTN 200/26: type-certified, available fully refurbished as a lower-cost option
  • Wind-driven water pumps: simple, long-life and low-maintenance, for water supply on remote sites

Services: assembly and installation, climbing aids and accessories, maintenance, operator training, and turbines in other sizes under licence or joint venture.

Operation

Energy Yield Assessment

How much energy can a wind energy project actually generate at a specific location?

We visit the site and review your loads and existing generation. Then measure the wind resource with LiDAR, SoDAR or a met mast.

System Design

windtest provides an independent energy yield assessment.

ThinxEnergy sizes the wind, PV and battery mix and the grid-forming control strategy, then selects a suitable Wind Technik Nord turbine..

System Integration

Wind Technik Nord supplies and installs the turbines. ThinxEnergy integrates them with your battery, PV, diesel and energy management systems.

Monitoring & Support

We verify power performance after commissioning. ThinxEnergy monitors the system continuously, and Wind Technik Nord provides service and training for local staff.
